تتفاوض أعمال الفنان والملحن جو نعمة وممارساته الفنية على حضور (وغياب) الصوت، والنغمة، والضوضاء، وأحيانًا، الصمت، وذلك عبر الدمج بين وسائط فنية مختلفة لإنشاء تجارب صوتية غامرة ومداخلات مبنية على الصوت.
يُقدم هذا المعرض الفردي تركيبات فنية وغرف استماع تتضمن أعمالًا سابقة وأخرى جديدة أُنتجت للمعرض، حيث تُسلّط الأعمال المعروضة الضوء على دور الصوت وعلاقته بالهياكل الاجتماعية والسلطة وسياسات الإرسال والبث الصوتي، بالإضافة إلى الهوية والذاكرة وارتباطهما الوثيق بالصوت والموسيقى.

A Rhythm Beyond

Joe’s practice as an artist and composer negotiates the presence (and absence) of sound, tone, noise, and silence through the use of various media to create immersive experiences and sonic based interventions.
Composed as a series of listening rooms and installations, this solo exhibition, titled A Rhythm Beyond, showcases previous work and new commissions that question the role of sound in relations to social structures, authority, politics of transmission, and how identity and memory are embedded in sound and music.
